I suppose we have to adjust the bar a little bit. You know, considering the restaurant is situated in a gas station. There are things I like about this spot. The food is one of them, luckily. The food is not bad, even without lowering the bar too much. I haven't had too many items here, sticking to my normal veggie dishes like paneer tikka masala and aloo gobi. you get a good amount for the relatively low prices that they charge. I also like the generous portion of rice that they serve. The things I don't like are more than enough to keep me away most days. There is literally service here. It may not be the hugest deal normally, considering this is generally just a takeout joint and don't forget - inside a gas station. However, there was some kind of misunderstanding with my check once, and the owner/guy-in-charge nearly got into a screaming match with me. It was something that would not have been an issue in any other joint, and I was surprised that this guy made it such a huge ordeal. It seriously turned me off future visits. There are four thousand indian places within a 15 minute radius, and while most are more expensive you can bet on a much nicer time at any other place. Call ahead to make your order if you go, to make sure they are open (and also because everything is made to order, so your food will take at least 20 minutes). For a long time they stopped serving lunch, and I didn't know until I stopped in one day to make an order while getting gas. If all you are looking for is a cheap, tasty indian meal to eat on the couch, try this place out.

This was a new experience for me but ride it out based on reviews that I read on yelp.com . Pretty cramped place and felt like a maze upon entering. I ordered a kabab with chicken and vegetables on a skewer as well as a samosa and 2 potato cakes I think. They came with 2 sauces; brown and green but I wasn't told which One went with what so whatever taste great with one I'm just going to stick with it. I'm certain that I won't be returning to this place not because of the food but because of what I saw. as it did to me was preparing my meal to go I noticed a fly was caught in the refrigerated sections where the food was being contained. I'm sure its probably hard to keep up with that but I don't think I'll be going back.

What do Indian cuisine and gasoline have in common? In the case of Royal India, more than pungent smells - you can buy both here! This gas station is also a food market and restaurant. The market sells groceries, herbs, and other "ethnic" items that are hard to find at a chain food stores. I would keep a take-out menu and call in your order. When calling, you get an estimate of how long the order will take (usually around 20 minutes). If you decide to go there to eat instead of take-out, bring a coat during the winter time as the market can get cold! Inside is a single table with four chairs, surrounded by boxes of Abuelita mix. Nearby is a small kitchen with a glass display for baked offerings. More food stand than restaurant, Royal India is a treat for the adventurous chowhound. A cook is there ready to take orders - not sure who is there now, but the cook was very nice to us when we visited. If you want meat, order early before their daily stock of mutton, chicken and lamb disappears. I tend to buy their vegetarian entrees, as I find their lamb or chicken salty. Royal India's menu offers novel choices including Chinese-style (Indo-asian) vegetable fried rice ($8), a confluence of peas, carrots, peppers, rice, and string beans. If asked whether you want your dish prepared spicy, think twice. The dishes' hotness can be deliciously vicious. I said "yes" and the cook sliced fresh peppers and tossed them - seeds and all - in the wok for stir-frying. If you like to bathe in chili peppers, and decide to go the spicy route, get a side of roti (bread with herbs) for $2. Portions are generous and dishes are served hot. Pick up a bottle of Thums Up [sic] --- an Indian cola product - while you're there. Royal India is a greasy spoon with personality and is worth a visit!

Very fresh rotis (whole wheat), love the Parathas. Nick L is right, they have so many services in one place. I like the taste of most dishes they make here. The Poori Chole is a good deal, fills you up, is tasty and easy on the wallet.

This place just begs for a game - how many different types of services can you buy with one stop? Royal India, as mentioned above, is both a gas service station, a food bazaar, and a take-out restaurant. To add to that, there's an ad for driving lessons on the door and a fleet of U-Haul trucks parked in the lot - I'm waiting for them to open a walk-in clinic for discount surgery next! But you're probably wondering about the restaurant. I was impressed that they were open on New Year's Day, until 9pm too. They had several pre-prepared dishes sitting in a deli display counter, and an impressively large take-out menu to go along with it. Prices were quite reasonable - from $7 for most veggie dishes to $10-11 for meat Indo-Chinese specials (fried rice, etc). Service was friendly, if slow - but when everything's being cooked for you right there, can you complain? The cook asked us how spicy we'd like our food, and we told her to keep it mild, and that she did, with good flavor but no burn. A dal lentil dish came out tasting distinctly like refried beans (and included kidney beans - unusual), but nonetheless tasty. The lemon rice was a hit with our bunch (included peanuts), as well as a saag aloo spinach dish, which was delicious. Meat-eaters liked the chicken curry, but they kill things for sport, so really, who cares what they think? Less spectacular were the vegetable fried rice (not bad, just boring). Overall an impressive niche of the Indian community in this area, good food at a reasonable price.

I like this place it has everything! Gas Station/U-Haul center/Indian Supermarket/Indian "Restaurant"/Convenient Store/ Indian Movie Rental. The restaurant does have good Indian food and excellent curries. However it is not very clean and their are sometimes food all over the floor and the parking lot outside never gets cleaned. Its a great place to go and pick up some quick Indian food.

Random Indian hole-in-the-wall spot in a gas station convenience store. I would recommend getting take-out since there is only a handful of chairs. Food is decent but probably better to go to Desi Village restaurant down the road
